As part of our Globalisation unit we have made 'flat people' based on the book 'Flat Stanley'. We have sent our people to our families and hopefully they will then travel to different parts of New Zealand and even around the world. When people recieve a flat person they are instructed to log onto our Rm14 Flatties blog and write about a global connection they have! This will teach our 'flat people' about the connections we have with different people, countries and places around the world! Please keep this project going and feel free to follow the 'flat people' on their travels at the following blog address! You can also comment to individuals in Room 14 on their wikipages or send our class a group message on the home page!
Below are some photographs showing our trip to Auckland City Mission. This was a trip that opened our eyes to what goes into making a charity work. We spent part of the day thinking of way in which we could make a difference and then the other half we spent making food parcels (we made packing lines to get the food from the storage room to the boxes)! It was a really fun day and a very different trip to what we are used to!
We are Room 14 at Meadowbank School. On our wiki we will be publishing our best work, commenting on other peoples work to give them feedback and feed forward and sharing our work with people from around the world! We would really love you to leave a comment either on the home page or one of our individual pages. You comments often help us to improve our work and definately motivate us to keep up the great work we are doing! We love getting feedback on the work we are doing in Room 14 and also would love to hear/communicate with people around the world. If you are from a school in a different country then please let us know so we can start communicating with each other!
Hi Room 14 and parents! I have just changed the permissions on the wiki so you can comment without actually joining the page. All you need to do is set your family up with a wiki username eg. BryantFamily and then they should be able to log in and comment on the class wiki at anytime during the year. Please start commenting on the work that Room 14 are doing in class! We publish work on the wiki so that you can read it and give your son/daughter and their peers some feedback! It would be great to see more parent or grandparent comments throughout the rest of this term!!! Miss B
Room 14's Woodfired Pizza Oven Project!
A new page has been added to our wiki. Click on the 'Pizza' page to read more about our wood fired pizza oven venture. We will keep this page updated with the progress we are making, some of the inquiry work we are doing during topic time and also some photos of us designing and making the oven (we are not at that stage yet but by the end of Term 3 we will all be eating yummy home/school made pizza, using toppings grown in the Room 14 garden).
Room 14's Delicious PageClick here to be taken to the Room 14 Delicious account. On this page your will find lots of great links that Miss Bryant recommends to help your learning! There are lots of cool games which help to make learning fun. We will use these in class time too!
Room 14's Weird and Whacky Veggie Garden!
Room 14 have their very own garden and we have been busy planting lots of vegetables and other edible plants in it. We decided as a class to make our garden unusual yet appealing to the eye. As a class we have painter old (and industrial strength cleaned) toilet bowls, old deck chairs, a hand basin and an old umbrella frame. We are going to use these as planters, growing supports and climbing frames. Click on the 'Garden' page to read more about are garden and see some photos of what we have been doing.
